Madrid Born Industrial Designer. He studied at the IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Milan and at Central Saint Martin´s College of Art and Design in London. His products reflect a clean style and a strong interest for well made objects that last through time and improve the quality of life. They seek to use only the essential elements avoiding unnecessary waste of materials, staying ‘nude’ as well as highly consistent and therefore naturally blending with passing of time and adapting to different vital spaces.

After having completed his business management studies, Alvaro Catalán de Ocón decides to follow his creative interests. He graduates from Central Saint Martin´s in London where one of his final projects, the GLOW BRICK, since then is manufactured and distributed by Suck-UK – England.

In 2004 he starts up his own Studio in Barcelona where he designs LA FLACA lamp, winner of the DESIGN PLUS AWARD (Frankfurt), and finalist to the DELTA awards in Barcelona. LA FLACA is now produced and distributed by Metalarte – Spain. In 2009 he moves his studio to Madrid where he is also a teacher at the IED.

His first time at the SaloneSatellite was 2007 with LaFlaca, Cube, Piadina and Cornucopia products, and in 2010 with the Candil lamp, Prima tabla and Pielettrico (designed together with Francesco Faccin). In this occasion he wins the together with Francesco Faccin the `Design Report Award 2010´ for the best stand and products in the Salone Satellite.

Nowadays he works with companies such as Metalarte–Spain, Suck-UK and he self produces other products that can be found in renamed Galleries such as OA- Madrid, Rossana Orlandi – Milan, SIMSUM- Madrid and GUGGENHEIM- Bilbao.
